So not exactly conformation question but I was looking for some - TopicsExpress

So not exactly conformation question but I was looking for some advice on a doe. Saanen 2nd freshening with a single kid. Production is either exactly as last year or possibly less. Took a while for her to get up to last years production, if she has even reached that. Same feed, same hay, same routine and last year was also a single kid. Milking 12 hours apart on schedule. UTD on deworming, BoSe, and copper bolus. Free choice access to minerals, hay, water etc. No mastitis or injury and she is CAE negative. Wondering if there is something I could do to improve production or if some just dont improve with later freshenings and others do? Yes I do need to get a scale and start weighing, I have been going by quarts/gallons. Last year she was over a gallon a day, this year usually a bit under. I have noticed some days she will up production, some days back down some. No idea what would cause the fluctuation. I do think she isnt milking down as much and there seems to be more muscle than last year but no issues so thought I might just be remembering wrong. I can weigh if that helps. Not unhappy with her, but would really like to get her milk star this year and I have heard saanens need closer to 12lbs? Any ideas? Thanks for any advice.
