So often I measure accomplishment in too large a term. This evening I am thankful. I started the day grading some papers from my amazing kids, spent the morning with my beautiful daughter at church, took a young man out to lunch who, despite going through some personal difficulties, is having an amazing year, spent some time with my wife shopping at Trader Joes, called a few parents and told them how incredible their kids are, and tutored a few kids at the house. I need to do a better job of measuring accomplishment in smaller increments, because today was a great day. I did not re-work my sprinkler system or mow our hideous backyard, but I enjoyed the gifts I have been given.
