So... over the past year we have really learned to communicate with our dogs well. We have found that they have a series of "ALERT" barks and now can distinguish them - can come out of the house prepared to take action. Vince and Sienna - grrrrrrrr--grrrrrrr--grruffffff! (low slow and angry) = Coyote in the pasture Sienna - ruff! ruff! ruff! arrff!! (very high pitched fast and frantic) = Squirrel in the tree Vince - BARK! pause BARK! pause BARK! pause BARK! pause ... ( VERY LOUD, REPETITIVE and AGGRESSIVE - it literally sounds like an alarm going off) this continues until we go outside and find him staring at a corner of the house = Snake by the house Vince and Sienna - bark bark bark bark bark bark bark bark bark = Mail lady in the driveway Sienna - running - arruuff grggrrrrr arrffff bark bark arrugrr rufff (crazy attack mode) = Golfer in the yard, outside the fence. And what woke us up today - Sienna - bark-bark-bark, pause, bark-bark-bark-bark (normal tone, not hurried but intrigued) = Turtle in the backyard I love my dogs! :)
