So part of new job is acting as the Hub of the controls division. Not exactly the manager, but everything does have to flow through me. So I have had to learn Organizational Development. My wife, who has a Masters degree in just this topic, informed me that its not only the reworking of a process that is essential to making a system run smoothly, its also getting the involved parties to accept and implement those changes. She has me reading all sorts of dry peer reviewed journals with articles like: “Employee acceptance of organizational change: the role of organizational commitment” Can’t the owner of the company just whip them with a cat-O-nine-tails and tell them “This is the way it’s gonna be! Accept Lean and Kaizen, or else.” I think that’s what Jack Welch would have done.
