So.......post demolition and reburbishment as well as management of hazardous substance surveys, a full asbestos extraction all managed by our client prior to starting site and being given 100% clear assurance, I find high grade asbestos hidden in a box attached to 90yr old oil powered boiler, sat on top of it, residue loose and a flue going into the area we are demolish, all in the middle of the extraction zone also the extraction was up to the said box of all 3types of deadly asbestos. I notify all concerned, finally 18hrs later a response of oops we will come and pick it up from the extraction company, obviously hoping to hush up such a serious issue so he wont loose his license! My H&S man doesnt contact me at all until I call him! he then says and I quote what can I do after the expected 60 second ear bashing from moi sniggers when I say 3 people have been exposed!! had he been in front of me I would be on an ABH charge right now. But that would be a silly move, I have photos, surveys, emails everything and once I am proved right I am going to blow the lot out of the water by exposing neglegence within co-op management, current employer, 2No asbestos survey companies and extraction company. Who knows I may even be listened to once and for all when it comes to graduates in construction management having detrimental effect on productivity, safety and most of all salaries for the hard working peeps of this god forsaken hole
