So....some of you may already know this, however for those that dont; I made the extremely difficult decision after 22 years to resign my position as the nursing supervisor for the inpatient pediatric hematology/oncology and general pediatric unit at Blank Childrens Hospital. For 22 years I was blessed with the ability to do something I love, work with wonderful peers and have the unique opportunity to spend time with patients and families at a very delicate and scary time of their lives. I have shared tears, laughter and prayers with many, and they will most likely never know how they touched my life. I have a lifetime of memories that I take with me. With that said, I had the opportunity to become a part of our Infection Control department at Unity Point Des Moines (Iowa Methodist) to become a nurse epidemiologist. This position will afford me a different challenge, a few less hours, and the ability to spend more time with my family. I am very excited to be more involved in our girls activities and some of the youth programs. Thank you to Tim OBrien, Sierra and Saige for putting up with my hectic and long hours, but supporting me along this journey. Also to my mother Marlene Sunds for always being there, to assist my family in any and every way. I could not have done this without you.
