So someone just asked me about this in the course of another thread...its as pertinent a time to tell the story if ever. So about 11-ish years ago, I punched a police officer....not necessarily something Im my proudest of, but there were some circumstances....I was in a fight in a bar, the officer failed to ID himself (to the point where I could have heard him do so, at least), put a hand on my shoulder, and as it was that sort of a fight, I turned round swinging. If I recall I caught him as much with my wrist and elbow as anything, but I left a bruise. As youd expect, I then hit the ground pretty hard whilst he waited for some back up, and I was carted off with a few other folks to our local police station, where I pointed out to the custody sergeant that the officer arresting me hadnt clearly IDed himself, had approached me from behind during a fight, and that Id stopped resisting as soon as Id realised it *was* a uniformed officer. At which point I was made to apologise to the officer (which I was happy to do) and released and sent on my merry way. And the reason pretty much that last entire paragraph happened the way it did...was because when I punched the officer, despite by outweighing him by 100lbs or so, and his being entirely on his own (albeit also being a bit of a dumbass....cops are only human after all)...he didnt unload 12 rounds into me for my trouble....
