So something has been on my mind since going out last night. I met a guy through a mutual friend who not only thought it was appropriate to refer to my best friend as a b**** but also had a lengthly conversation with me on how he finds it insulting that women like me who are married let themselves go. He proceeded to tell me there was no way I was skinner than 160lbs and also asked me while eating if I thought my food choice was appropriate given what we just talked about. Lets make one thing very clear, I absolutely love my body, but regardless people, make sure you are showing respect to everyone you meet! What he said may not have knocked down my self esteem but if this is the way people are going to speak to people, we have a serious problem! As if the media doesnt already hold us all to impossibly high standards, we are now going to enforce this on each other? Guys, focus on empowering each other in personal conversation, not tearing each other down!
