So thats what that red light on the dash means. Fan belt disintegrated this morning on the way in to town and the engine overheated and the battery went flat so all in all, a bugger. Managed against expectations to buy a fan belt for a Suzuki Carry 1.3, a battery charger and the hardest of all, a 12 mm ring spanner. Two hours or cursing and dismantling the gear change followed by the air con compressor gave me access under the seat to the alternator and thereby the ability to replace the fan belt. Im sure it would be easier from underneath but we dont have that luxury. Anyway its running again, has 7 seats and is the size of a postage stamp. Yeayyyyyyyy. Wind came up. Went to the beach. Sailed until I got cramp then got ready for Saturday night in town. Gosh Im tired already.
