So, the Facebook Post going around about sending Christmas cards to a wounded American soldier c/o Walter Reed Memorial Hospital didnt check out well on Snopes, BUT I have a better option. Operation Write Home is a nonprofit organization that works with Military Chaplains around the world, wherever American troops are stationed. They invite card makers around the country to participate by sending them handmade, blank cards. These cards are then shipped to our troops overseas to use to send home to their loved ones. Ive participated in this for a few years and am thinking of hosting a card making day where all of the cards created would be donated for this purpose. That, however, is not the reason for this post. Operation Write Home also asks that we write Christmas Cards and letters to these same people, encouraging them, praying for them, and thanking them for their service to our country. These cards are called Any Hero cards. My friend Carla Evans Dominick and I are donating Christmas (and other types) cards to be used for this purpose and will be sending them off later this month. We invite you all to join us in this. If you would like to write some letters/cards to our Heros please let me know. Ill be happy to give you cards to write in, or take your letters and send them with our package.
