So the LORD said, I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens, for I am sorry that I have made them. But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD. These are the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation. Noah walked with God. And Noah had three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Genesis 6:7–10 ESV When the Earth had become totally corrupt and the thoughts of the people were only evil all the time, the Lord decided to start over. Noah was different from the rest. He was walking close to God, he was trying to do right. Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. Noah, his wife, his three sons, and their wives were spared and survived the flood that came. There were eight of them. Scripture does not mention that his wife was righteous, or his sons and their wives. It only mentions Noah’s relationship with God. When Lot was rescued from Sodom, his wife and daughters went out of the city with him. Serving God will affect those you care about. Your acts alone may not save them but you will be a light and God will draw them. When things get bad they will follow you, just like Noah’s family.
