So, the pharmaceutical company Roche has a drug that cost £90,000 per treatment for a certain type of breast cancer which will give 1in 5 women/men with this form of breast cancer a lifeline, but because of the high cost NICE cannot sanction its NHS use. Logic tells us that NHS money has to go on so many life saving treatments, we live longer, so therefore with such an increase in population it will never stretch to provide all the health care etc we all need. Thats something we may not like, but no matter who is in charge they cannot spend what they dont have. HOWEVER, the B rit is public raise millions for Cancer Research and Breakthrough Breast Cancer, so why do these charities and Roche themselves not put aside funds from that research to pay for the cost of this treatment? After all the scientists who developed it at the time were probably funded and paid well from the money for their research posts. Roche their shareholders and companies like them must surely have a moral duty to make this possible?
