So, the uky.edu email reflects that I have my foot in the door at the University of Kentucky. There is no such thing as applying and getting full time status. You have to go through the “STEPS” program. I’ve applied several time before with STEPS, but unless you know the scoop, any job posting with “IEBC” (internal employee being considered) means that if you aren’t already in the university system, you won’t get that job unless it’s like head basketball coach or university president. You get my point.. After leaving Lexpark, I had to make a choice. I could keep going with things I found exciting, which usually meant being employed by a 2nd party contractor, or I could take a few steps back and redesign my future regarding employment and the possibility of finding that “job” that will be there 10-15 years down the road. I chose the latter. So, I’m in the door, working in “STEPS” and I will do this until I find a place that suits me and once I find that place, this will be the job I retire from.
