So the weird thing about the last couple of days? (And by weird, I mean backwards, ironic, counter-intuitive, even troubling) Success and victory are not on the scoreboard or the win-loss column. Or in the balance of my bank account, portfolio or balance sheet. Or in the grades, degrees, awards, personal accomplishments, title, sphere or influence or resume. Or in the ballot box or political persuasion. Or in the number of things Ive crossed off my to-do list. Or in the number of my friends that will Like this. Victory is in a cross. Most of the things I devote my time to? Success and victory just arent there. Despite what everyone tells me, and what I sometimes think. When I survey the wondrous cross On which the Prince of Glory died My richest gain I count but loss And poor contempt on all my pride Soli Deo Gloria
