So there is no wildlife on the airfield or the beautiful green grass that surrounds it and probably even less on that ugly smelly pig farm! How wrong certain people are! Just come back from a long circular walk with my lovely dog over the top of Bishopdown, Old Sarum, across and along the top of the fields above the beautiful river valley and back around the outer ramparts of Old Sarum and over to the fields above the newest scar on our landscape that is the extension of Bishopdown Farm. Lots of highlights but the best part of the walk was when several hundred lapwings took off from the airfield perimeter and the pig fa and treated me to nearly thirty minutes of precise, beautiful and invigorating flight. Splitting into smaller flocks, changing direction and gathering together again. A wonderful sight considering there is no wildlife at the airfield. Let us all hope and pray that common sense prevails, but it will not be easy
