So there was some protesters protesting at the State House last night. Speaking about police brutality in the 13th amendment.. Saying that the police were violating the 13th amendment.. Please explain to me what slavery has to do with our police force.. Some stupid people will say anything just to get their voice heard even if it makes absolutely no sense or has no bearing on what theyre talking about.. Passed by Congress on January 31, 1865, and ratified on December 6, 1865, the 13th amendment abolished slavery in the United States and provides that Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States
