So this day 14 years ago the story continues.... I was in a surgical gown going over the procedure. I was trying not to show how scared I was that my baby girl may not survive but prayed she would be ok and fight through all the upcoming obstacles that would soon come our way. Her surgeon was on hand for once she was born to take her and remove the bowels needed and reconstruct her belly button after everything was back in place. The operating room was cold and I shook moments before my spinal block. Once open I could feel the pressure of them moving my organs etc to reach the baby I hadnt met yet but loved with all my heart. Then at 10:58am I began to sob while listening to the screams of my baby girl!! This sound verified that all would be just fine because those little lungs were developed enough and her battle now wouldnt be as bad. I got to kiss her but never got to hold her as she was then rushed out for her own surgery. I woke next in my room resting with doctors telling me she was done and had done very well. My Grace Abigail was here and perfect!! She weighed 3lb 9oz (with sterile bagging) 16 1/4 long, dark hair and big blue eyes. I froze my milk, stayed in the hospital every chance I could, and 2 weeks later I finally got to hold her. Ive been blessed to hold her ever since. I love you hunny. Happy Birthday Grace Harris
