So this group of boys participated in yesterdays Capes, Cookies and Cocoa read aloud. They were all intrigued by the capes as well as my camera and asked if they could take photos; their mom/aunt immediately said no, but I told her it was OK. So I put the strap around their neck and had them use each other and myself as the subject. So heres what I learn from my brief interaction with these ambitious black boys...their lives matter, their dreams must to be nurtured and they need to know just how smart they really are from the start. They need to be taught how to protect and stand up for themselves in such a way that they wont become another statistic. In each of them I saw courage, intelligence, curiosity and the innocence that only childhood can bring. I ask that you pray for them as their future is under attack. Pray for protection, wisdom, mentors and/or God-sent ambassadors (it still takes a village). I pray that they never see the inside of a police car, prison or a morgue. I pray Gods purpose finds them before they reach middle school. May they have the same confidence 10-15 years from now that the display in these photos! #thenextgeneration #blacklivesmatters #Helpthembreathe
