So this guy in a dusty old Ecko shirt is walking around the Lake Merritt passing out Occupy Oakland 2nd Anniversary flyers. Meanwhile Im sitting on a park bench enjoying my view of the lake and the birds swimming. The man looks at me and approaches like Im the one he needs to pass a flyer to. I have on my headphones so Im not listening to a word he is saying. Dont really care. The guy is throwing up a fist to signify the struggle and Im trying to enjoy the lake and its pleasantness before I bicycle back to finish my work for the day. I look at the flyer thinking why o why would someone want to continue the Occupy movement? Why dont he pass the flyer out to blondie jogging over there with the pink shirt, or the shirtless Nasty Nate with his shirt off and pierced nipples, or the skateboarder with the oversized cap and jacket, or the Latina walking her little poodle? He probably wasnt even out there during the riots, he was probably at home on his couch drinking a beer. Because when they start shooting gas grenades you gotta be able to run fast. And he is definitely a slow moving man over 50. Right now Im looking at the flyer and it doesnt event say anything about free food or refreshments. Oh well…I might just show up to it anywayz…lol…
