So this is my little Question I sent to Daiya Foods the other day. Please share! Me: I wrote: Hi, My name is Jessica Kliskey and I am a health coach who helps people rid themselves of inflammatory foods by removing dairy, gluten, and most processed foods. I learned recently that carrageenan is another additive to be concerned about. Silk products also have included carrageenan and recently has promised to remove it from their products by 2015. Can you tell me what your plans are to follow suit if any? Them: Received a call from David. - Wait still me: I reiterated the reason for my message was to remind that studies show that carrageenan causes inflammation in the body. That their product is supposed to be a healthier alternative. I told him that I tell people why they should remove traditional dairy from their diet and inform them of alternative cheese products. If carrageenan causes inflammation then why is it in their product? Now David speaks and says something to the likeness of: we are aware of this and Daiya looks at ingredient issues twice a year. Me: I said, Well David Silk Products have promised to remove carrageenan from their products by 2015. Will you follow suit? David: We take a look at our ingredients twice a year and carrageenan is only in our slices. Not our shreds, block or cream cheese. Me: I thanked him very much for the call and told him Ill be watching for any changes. I also contacted The Cornucopia Institute at cornucopia.org/ about their involvement and they replied they were unaware of Daiya removing carrageenan from their line and reminded me that consumer pressure is a factor in carrageenan removal. So I am asking you to help them decide before their next meeting of the minds. You know, a little healthy consumer pressure :). I urge you to go to the Daiya Foods website us.daiyafoods/ and encourage them to remove carrageenan from their slices line of product. They are selling a good product. Lets help them rid the carrageenan from their slices to make it even better.
