So this is my official ultra beast update ! After a awful night - TopicsExpress

So this is my official ultra beast update ! After a awful night sleep , and and a little time to reflect and look back at yesterdays mammoth of a race ,which the average beast time ended up being around 9hours , and the ultras had to do it twice! I still cant come up with the right words to properly describe how excruciating it was,but at the same time so fulfilling and rewarding! Its amazing how one can learn so much about himself, when your squeezed and really put to test . My time was around 12h45 and the word is only about 30% managed to finish this race , which was the toughest theyve done yet . When I finished shortly after 7h they wr getting people off the mountain because it was pitch black out there , and all you could see was headlamps floating all over the mountain top, trying to make there way down safely. A big shout out to my beautiful wife that followed me up and down the mountain all day for almost 13hrs , going from obstacle to obstacle, trying to make it to the next one just in time before I got there to support and cheer me on. It made a world of difference, thank you ! It was extremely emotional for me, this whole experience was actually. Im not gonna lie, when I got to my bin drop after 6hours with the first loop, I was in a lot of pain I had never experienced before . Seeing Myrian there waiting for me, and just the thought of having to go back out there and do this sh... all over again ? I collapsed mentally and physically, literally in a fetal position in tears ( I wasnt crying I swear ?!?) punching myself in the quads trying to make the pain from the cramping go away. I cant do this again...I cant ,theres no way! You know that mental toughness that we so often refer to? Well, mine took a major beating by that point. But quitting wasnt a option. I could hear Shane Miller Mylene Arsenaultand Mike Blanchard yelling at me get your ass up and keep moving !And like my favorite quote says( pain is temporary, but quitting last forever.) but sometimes temporary seems like eternity!so thinking of my kids and all of the the nice words of encouragement all of you had sent me the day before ,I grabbed my shit, hugged and kissed my wife and made my way back out there for one more round of torture . I can honestly say that physxtreme (all of you)were with the whole time for that extra push ! Thank you to all the coaches .....I cant imagine tackling something like this without being properly prepared. It was a awesome experience ! Met a lot of great fellow Spartans along the way . Canada was well represented , we dominated and we have great recognition in obstacle racing . I can only say this....if you push your limits above and beyond what you think you can do, chances are you will surprise yourself every time .....see you next. Year killington??
