So this morning I was feeling very bah-humbug (or whatever the Thanksgiving version of that is)...I have been a nurse for almost fourteen years, but it never gets easier to be away from my family on holidays... but as always in this situation, I am reminded that I do indeed have more than my share of blessings this Thanksgiving... my incredible husband who makes me happy every day. Happy, healthy children, who are my heart and soul. My amazing family, of whom there are too many of you to tag, I will miss you all, whether I would have sat with you at a table today or not. I have the very best friends a woman could ask for, but especially thankful for my girls Valerie Murray McKendrick and Kara Klinger Menard-my sisters from another mother ;) My work fam, especially those that I am celebrating with today, Samantha Harkins, Christie Passarella Linden, Lisa Amatrudo Ranger Jurek-- wouldnt want to be in the trenches eating cafeteria apple pie with anybody else today. And all day today I have gotten little reminders of all different kinds of incredible people I am blessed to have in my life-- Megan Patricia, thank you for your text today --you are a standout example of how lucky we are to have such caring, intelligent, and awe-inspiring people in my boys lives, teaching them with patience, love, and understanding, which means more to a parent than math skills ever will--and that goes for you too Anna Lisa Cavazos-Jenkins, Joyce Casey Johnson, and Rachel Weisfeld Natkin. And Rachel Ingala, thank you for loving them the way you do. I could go on and on, but rest assured, I am thankful for each and every one of you in my life. Pray that the rest of the little turkeys I help bring into the world today are happy and healthy and at some point make it safely to their mommas arms. Have a safe and happy holiday.
