So this morning (Sunday) about 10, Im in Panera and in walks some guy with a cowboy hat, boots, a big Western buckle, and a holstered handgun on his hip. I and several other customers in Panera stopped DEAD in our tracks....... Now, granted he has the legal right to open carry a weapon, but doesnt it beg a few questions? First, how responsible is a gun owner who dresses up like a refugee from a B western movie and walks into Panera on a Sunday morning of Memorial Day weekend? And secondly, whom is he responsibly protecting from whom? No zombie sightings in Mechanicsville since . . . well . . . ever. To all my gun owner friends--the more you make people feel threatened, the less traction you are going to be getting in the court of public opinion. Sure, I have a gun, but Responsible is NOT carrying it into Panera or any similar place where families are enjoying bagels and coffee after church. If you are a responsible gun owner, do YOURSELF a favor and get this message to people like this.
