So this weekend is the last ever TintheP at Balado, and its forced me to think of my top 5 favourite ever Balado moments. Feel free to share your own. It’s a tough one, so in descending order… 5. Blur, The Universal, 1999 – First festival experience as a wean, light show kicked in, the “it really, really, really could happen” chorus blew ma heid aff 4. Ocean Colour Scene, Day We Caught the Train, 2000 – If you could have one image to sum up T in the Park it would just be a guy in a beany hat and a can of Tennent’s shouting “oh oh la la”. Which is handy for this song. 3. Primal Scream, Country Girl, 2008 – Lost all my mates, went into King tuts tent, found them just as this one kicked in. Couldnae script it. 2. Manic Street Preachers, 1999, pre-set – this is in for comedy value, before they started a massive riot kicked off in the crowd and we all got hit by bottles (of pish). Ross lost the plot, jumped on someones shoulders to shout “come on then!”, and within two seconds was hit by a tub of mustard. Amazing. 1. Paul Weller, That’s Entertainment, 2001 – After finishing a great acoustic set, Weller announces “a friend on stage”, and Noel Gallagher walks out and they play “That’s Entertainment”, first time Pauls done a Jam songs in donkeys. Unreal. And bear in mind the band in the tent before them was Wheatus.
