So this weekend will see the 5th and final installment of the Gravity Enduro Ireland Series and at the same time brings an end to my Mountain Bike for Merryn challenge. The closing event will take place on Carrick Mountain, just outside the village of Glenealy in Co. Wicklow. After the conditions for Event 4 in Djouce last month were not the best here’s to hoping the weather holds up for the rest of the week and we’ll be treated to some nice dry trails. The Carrick Enduro is quoted as being “home to the fastest tracks on the circuit with Carrick often hosting the National Downhill Championships on the many steep technical sections and flat out chutes. The course is a looped route taking in 5 special stages, no unnecessary climbs, just free flowing descents.” The transitions between stages however are a tough slog with some fire roads feeling never ending……. even more as you travel them for the 3rd or 4th time. Below is a sample of the action from last year…. vimeo/64706820 With the challenge coming to a close I just have to say that when I started this venture I could never have believed that the amount of money that has been so generously donated was achievable. At present there is almost €1,000 allocated to Mountain Bike for Merryn and I will never be able to express the gratitude, and cannot reiterate enough the thanks, to each and every person who has donated/pledged to date. And remember it’s still not too late to donate :) Here’s the link just in case you forgot or lost it………idonate.ie/mountainbikeformerryn Thanks again……. (y)
