So this year Im going to be doing this on a regular basis: Most of you know me as the college basketball guy, so I wanted to give you guys my three winners and losers over the opening weekend of college basketball. Winners: 1) Utah State - who defeated USC 78-65. This is supposed to be the year of redemption for the Aggies, who started things off in a big way by beating USC and new coach Andy Enfield (from Florida Gulf Coast). 2) VCU - The Rams (my preseason Final Four pick) got off to a 48-14 lead on Illinois State before halftime. 3) Wisconsin - Josh Gasser is back, and it showed as they beat St. Johns 86-75. By the way, the Big Ten is undefeated. Losers: 1) Boston College - the Eagles had so much promise before the year started, and already put their NCAA chances in serious doubt after losses to Providence and UMass. 2) Kansas State - the defending Big-12 co-champions lost to Northern Colorado. Yes, a Northern Colorado team that was terrible last year. 3) South Dakota State - They are 0-2 and clearly nothing without Nate Wolters
