So to lighten up the mood, here are some stories shared by docs about their dumbest patients.. 1)A woman came in for a baby check with her 6-month-old and she had what looked like chocolate milk in the babys bottle. So he started explaining to her as kindly as he could that she shouldnt be giving her baby chocolate milk. At which point she interrupts him and says, Oh that isnt chocolate milk. Its coffee! He just loves it! 2) Had a lady who measured her babys temperature by pre-heating the oven and putting one hand in front of it while the other hand was on the babys forehead. She told the nurse her babys fever was about 250 degrees. 3)once had a patient who was prescribed an inhaler for his cat allergy. He came back a week later saying he was none better. Turns out he was spraying the inhaler on his cat 4)Lady has to have foot amputated and is given waiver forms to sign pre-op. Doctor asks if she needs time to think about it. Shes very nonchalant and doesnt seem to care much what they do. He gets suspicious and probes a bit as to why shes not more concerned. She says she gets that they have to operate and its OK because the foot will grow back 5)A middle aged lady in theatre once told us at the last minute (as she was being wheeled in) that shes allergic to latex. Everyone freaks out cos so much of the stuff we use in theatre has latex in it, so we take her to the latex free theatre and do her surgery there. When shes in recovery and awake I enquire as to what reaction she has to latex. I just dont really like the sound the latex gloves make, dear. I just turned around and walked out. 6) friend has just graduated as a doctor and did a placement in Cape Town, Apparently things get a little crazy on friday nights and one night they had a guy come in an ambulance with an axe lodged in his head. The patient didnt survive. A few hours later another guy came in and asked if he could get his axe back! They said certainly sir, wait right here and called the police. 7) This lady was morbidly obese and had already lost a leg to diabetes. While on the basic medical floors, she and her family would consume large quantities of fast food. She couldnt lift her own chest up , and she eventually went into respiratory failure and ended up on a breathing machine in the ICU. When we finally wean her off the machine and the tube gets pulled the very first words out of her mouth are Can I get some fried chicken from the cafeteria?
