So today I took Andy to his Attorney to revise his will, some people he had on the original have passed away and I just needed the lawyer to do the paperwork so legally it shows that I am his health are surrogate. For starters this Attorney is a complete A-hole, I believe he would be one of those that takes advantage of seniors but on the way their Andy said will you go in the room with me, I said the lawyer said he needs to talk to you alone. So we get their and I go back with him and he asks who I am to Andy, how long have I known him, and what is Andy paying me, so I start to explain how we met and he interrupts constantly but then says in a very rude voice, why would you be doing this for a stranger much less for free, what do you expect in the end? Since Andy is on hospice and you just suddenly appeared! So I tried to say because I care about the poor seniors that have no one else to help them and because I have a heart! In a rude voice he says I need to talk to Andy alone, and I say can I just take notes, as I am writing everything down for his son if he ever comes, NO! Well then I was called back in and I said sir Im sorry if you think I am trying to take advantage of Andy like you probably are, but I care about him and I again am doing this for FREE! he grilled me about my background, what licenses I hold, like RN etc. Then he turns to Andy again and says what type of pymt do you want to set up for her (me) and I said nothing again, and Andy says she is doing this out of the goodness of her heart. Well I left that office in tears, he made me feel like I was a complete liar because he doesnt know anyone that would do what I am doing for free. So I say will you be billing him, and he said yes but I will need him to come in again to sign the paperwork, I said as you can see Andy is not getting around very well and cannot breathe, I say would you be willing to come to his house so he can sign the paperwork and he says yes for an additional fee. Now the office was 2 miles away! Im sorry to all you Lawyers out their but this man really left me with a terrible impression, however the Attorneys I know in Mn are awesome! So I was crying and Andy asks what happened, so I tell him, now he is hard of hearing so he probably didnt hear a thing this man said anyway, but I said its men like your lawyer that want me to say forget it Andy I cannot help you, I do not need the added stress of what this guy thinks. Now giving him the benefit of the doubt maybe their are people that come in and try to be added to a will etc. but from the start I said regardless of what Andy wants I DO NOT want to have anything to do with finances, only his health care!
