So today I took the boys to Starbucks for their favorite iced coffee drink (which is more like an ice cream sundae), anyway we were in the drive thru and when we reached the barista she was wearing the American Flag as a cape. I asked her if she knew that was disrespectful and she looked at me like I was some crazy ass woman. She proceeded to give us our order and I paid for it (as well as paid for the person behind me) and then asked her to take off the flag and be respectful of it and its meaning. She just stood there looking dumbfounded but I insisted that I wasnt leaving until she took it off. Well she did finally. I totally get that she was trying to be patriotic but I also wanted her to be respectful of this nation and what we stand for. I feel so many young people today are losing respect in our country as well as many other things. I do want to point out that the American Flag Code says The flag should not be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery, or for covering a speakers desk, draping a platform, or for any decoration in general (exception for coffins). Bunting of blue, white and red stripes is available for these purposes. The blue stripe of the bunting should be on the top. God Bless our country, Im a proud American!
