So today I went back in time , a time that my memory was not sure of , a time that defined my future, a time that made me who I am today, a time that will never be again. I took my cousin Pollyanne Dwyer with me to Milan to meet with Steve Short from the Milan The Mirror-Exchange Newspaper, Debra Holmes Ghigna,and Bradley Arnold ,relator ,to reminisce about the Caldwell/Holmes home. and we met at the Caldwell/Holmes home. Debra Holmes Ghinga and her family are the current owners and are selling the home since the death of her parents. No one wants to sell a family home but when the family can no longer reside there the sale of the home is the next step. The Caldwell and Holmes families have come together as we want this home to be a home for someone again or at least a home like setting.We all have very familial like memories in this home and would hope that another family would share the same.The home was built by the Caldwell family in the 1900s and was the childhood home of my daddy ,his twin brother and sister and half brother.The home later sold to the City of Milan for the library but the books proved to be too stressful for the floors.The Holmes family purchased the home in 1977 or 1978 and renovated it for their family. I went there in 1979 to see their Old English Sheepdog puppies as I had a love for them and also asked to see the home my daddy grew up in. Mrs. Holmes graciously let me play with the puppies and I was instantly in love knowing I would never be able to have such pups. I viewed the house which was my my daddys home and was so very impressed with the renovations they had done that I was overcome with joy and remorse that I could never have lived in the home that I loved so much. So here I am over 30 years later and I have had 3 Old English Sheepdogs since 1979.I have met the family that now owns the old Caldwell home and we have figured out we may all be related.I have never lived there but have more memories than I ever expected to have of the home. I think that the old saying that all things come to circle are certainly true in this circumstance.I can certainly say that I had a nice visit with my daddys home today and memories of days gone by are the best ever!!! Today was certainly a memory I will never forget and it was day that I felt my daddy very close to me!! Once a daddys girl , always a daddys girl.
