So today could we be looking at a situation where there have been six byelections in this Governments term and not one of them won by the numerically largest Opposition party, Fianna Fail? It would be extraordinary. Between them Fine Gael, Fianna Fáil and Labour have less than 30% of the vote in Dublin South-West by-election based on current tallies. Serious growth for SF in RSL with about 17.5% of the vote. To put that in context in Co Roscommon FF have 9 councillors and Sinn Fein have 1. IN 2011 SF got about 9.8% of the vote. Meaning on this poll there was only between 4 and 5 % difference in the SF and FF percentage share of the first preference vote.. These gains have been extraordinary in a very short period of timeI never thought I would see SF out poll FG on FPV and run FF so close in an area which has been their traditional heartland. The old two party back and forth model looks to be well and truly broken.Congratulations to Fitzmaurice on an amazing campaign
