So, today in our home island of Jersey, we experienced an earthquake. Our keepers had noticed that the animals were agitated all morning, and many visitors had separately commented that the howler monkeys, flamingoes, orangutans and gibbons were especially noisy. See Deputy Head of Mammals Gordon Hunts comment in the following article. m.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-jersey-28266736 When the quake hit, it shook the manor house, and bewildered visitors in Kirindy Forest walled garden looked over the wall to see if a truck had hit the building. Gibbons Hazel and George kept singing for a good hour after the quake had finished, as youll hear in the attached video. We are happy to report that theres been no damage, and everyone seems fine now. Thank you to everyone who messaged us asking if our animals were ok. #DurrellTeam #JearthQuake2014
