So today is the ‘official’ release date of Max Eider’s new album, DUCKDANCE. This doesn’t concern me in any practical way of course, although yesterday I did get the gardener to haul my sister Hermione’s bath-chair out of the cellar and oil the wheels. We’ve done a dry run, and amazingly, it looks as if the combination of the bath-chair and the pulley-system might conceivably get the mad old trout from the attic to the post office and back. Mind you, the pulleys were intended for a maximum load of one case of gin, and I doubt the fixings will stand the strain for long. To be honest I’m amazed she still fits through the trap door. Anyway, at least in theory, Hermione is primed. Copies of the single are still available, though in the case of the special edition, there aren’t many left. Unfortunately Hermione chose the album release date on astrological grounds, and I doubt we can now guarantee to get orders to intercontinental destinations in time for Christmas. However, H. will do her best, and one or more of Max’s releases would surely be the perfect present for the man or woman who has everything, including, of course, peculiar taste in music.
