So today was one of those eerie strange days. If uv ever worn a badge or loved someone who did this is for u. Measure my police academy kids today for clothes and I surprise them by telling them what their badge numbers will be. This is really a big deal trust me. One kid comes in, I give him the speech and tell him his number. He freezes and tears up. He tells me the number I gave him is his fathers badge in another city. He freaks and says his mom is gonna cry her eyes out. Note that I assign badges in a random fashion. I dont have a system I just go with whats available and what I have in good condition. How in heavens name did I kno that was his dads number? I didnt! Sounds insignificant to some of you but others will know how much this means to an upcoming NHPD family and his legacy of law enforcement officers. Some days I truly love what I do for me and all days I love what I do for them.
