So tonight its a hard hitting One Black Dress message based on an email from a new client. It would seem there are some professionals out there who are not very professional at all. Telling someone that they are not photogenic is nonsense. A unique look is exactly that. Not one that cannot be captured - if anything I am always excited and delighted to work with someone who is an exception to the rules . ---------------- There are iconic unconventional beauties whom I hold in the highest regard - amazing and incredible influences of strength, confidence, an uncommon sensuality, intelligence and TOTAL PRESENCE .. Lauren Hutton, Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Angelica Huston, Barbra Streisand, Diane Keaton, Coco Chanel .. to name a few. Just because someone does not fit the standardized bill of sale for what is (superficially) considered beautiful at first glance, this does not even remotely negate the truth that they have their own singular appeal. Beauty is an acknowledgement and agreement the body, mind, heart and soul make in each of us and then present to the world as a personal statement and truth of self. The message the world delivers back is perception. Acceptance is something you give to yourself, not require from others. Confidence is knowing that this is absolutely true and that any (outward) perception will neither inflate nor diminish your personal self esteem in any regard. In this world of negative influence and often inappropriate (uneducated and thoughtless) judgement, the one thing that cannot be suppressed in a woman is her innate right to be whatever she wants to be including attractive, present and aware of her own potential ... not what someone else decides she is or is not. Careless unwelcome words are meaningless and ineffective if you dont buy into them. Choose your words wisely - those you utter and those you listen to - and make sure they are the ones you decide apply to you. More importantly, make sure YOU are heard. Not the voices of those who would silence you. Be unique. Be one of a kind. Because you are. Be you. xoxo, Dawn One Black Dress
