So... truth... yes, I love the music these guys produce. Youre prolly tired of hearing me say it. But watch this and pay attention to how they respond to *each other.* Thats whats so powerful. As many times as theyve played this piece, they still actually *hear* one another and take genuine pleasure in what they hear. This is what music is. Why folks like these guys, and Eric Verlinde, and Jeff Busch, and Nikki DeCaires, and Eugenie Jones, and Beth Wulff, and Sheila Kay, and Adriana Giordano, and sooooo many others make our town a joy. If we could just take that generous gene and implant it into some of our other artistic disciplines. Maybe in 2015. Huge thanks to all the musicians in my life (especially Ms. D). You have saved my life this year... reaching my soul when all other avenues were clogged with debris. You really do matter. You really do make a difference. And *thanks* to the venue owners/managers (yes, Mr. Pierre-Louis, Ms. Arnold, Ms. Lewis I mean you) who take risks and create safe spaces for artists to challenge us and call us to our deeper selves. You are my church and my psyches renewal has hinged on your generosity. More, much more, to say. But this for now. This prayer.
