So very true! We even got spankings and survived them and understood the consequences if we repeated the circumstance or whatever until lesson learned! There was no 911 to call the Police because your Mom or Dad popped you in the mouth...all because you wanted YOUR way!! Parents & Grand-parents WERE the LAW so-to-speak! We even had latch-key kids because a Single/Divorced/Widowed Mom (NO WELFARE) HAD to work no matter how many kids she had. There were even some homes where both Mom & Dad had to work...did we as children start gangs because we were lonely or poor? We accepted that it is what it is! Most of all...we learned to respect others starting with Mom & Dad, Grandpa & Grandma, Aunts & Uncles, the Elderly and the Disabled! Im lucky because my children are raising their children like their Dad & I were raised! And thank heaven that only 2 Daughters & 3 Grand-daughters live in the Nanny State of California!
