So, we really want to use our page to help educate people on responsible horse ownership. Any of my followers have any suggestions? We are not inexpensive pets. We ARE companions. We are classified as livestock, but I doubt you will find another four footed, hooved animal that can cost you as much as we do, yet give you so much in return. We want to encourage responsible horse ownership, and dont want to drive people away from providing us homes - but we want responsible homes, with people that understand the obligation they undertake before they jump in. Bit and I go through 10 bags of concentrates/month. We also eat A LOT of hay. Hay isnt cheap anymore - 525$/ton on what we get. We go through about 6 to 8 bales a month (these are 100+lb bales). We have to have our feet cared for. We sometimes need shoes. Sometimes, we even need the Veterinarian at odd hours. Sometimes - we need to go to the university or an equivalently equipped equine hospital when we have an emergency. We give our lives to our humans - sometimes, the relationship is 100% you, and little of us.
