So well written and EXACTLY how I feel (as well as many others). Just this morning I had to stop at a mans house with 2 chained dogs (not the first dogs on the property either...the last one animal control did take and had to euthanize (but honestly that was a less painful way to go then a life of extreme misery in my opnion)...I have called animal control numerous times and he STILL has them out there with no shelter (and of course lied and told me they only go out to potty...I know better- seen them every single time I go by) AND one of the places I work has pitbulls chained and I see their misery every time I am there (yes I have tried to talk to the owner who is completely nut and have called the Humane Society numerous times...they too are overrun and have little recourse because technically they have shelter). I have feel this pain almost every day I live in this horrible area (I mean horrible for animals...no offense to the people as I as I have met some wonderful animal loving people here for sure). It is the lack of ordinances...lack of funds for municipal shelters...lack of shelters altogether...apathy...etc. It is utterly heartbreaking is what it is. Nevermind trying to recruit fosters (or at least consistent fosters) because that would be like winning the lottery. I love this ladys thinking...just wish more people (particularly the powers that be) would feel this way and demand REAL change. If I had room, you bet I would take all of them and wouldnt bat an eye. They could try to take me down, but I wouldnt go quietly (I should clarify that this is not where I live because thank God they DO have an ordinance here restricting tethering a dog)
