So what I thought was mile 19 of our adoption marathon (a few posts ago) was probably more like mile 7... We are still trucking along since the embassy requested a court order document. This document requires a court hearing- which is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon. The court decision (what we need) will be ready a few business days after that, at which point Ill sprint the document to the embassy and politely show them my face again. Lets just say the embassy guards now recognize me...This puts us coming home no sooner than the second week of October. Missing Win and the girls in a major way, but if for nothing else giving a brand new pair of Nikes to my new sponsor son Abush has made all this extra time here beyond worth it. (see photos) We visited him in is 8x8 ft home yesterday and found him at the loom weaving a scarf like a pro (hes 12 yrs old). One of the most awesome benefits of being here a while is that Ive gotten to know my sponsor kids and develop a relationship with them. This is what they desire so deeply, yes their basic physical needs must be met, but closely following that need is the undeniable desire for a friend, someone who cares. A few weeks ago I noticed Abushs shoes had nickel size holes in the soles. It just so happened that the shoes I brought for Yeabsira were too small him... I smile to think that God knew who they were really for when I bought them long before I did : ) Most importantly, these are the children of Entoto Mountain- they have joy but not a sponsor. So many of you have already sponsored some of these sweeties and for that I share in their sincerest gratitude that runs deep into our cores! Boma Family, Obersteller Family, Fletcher Family, Beamer family, Turner Family, Amber Beach and Maida Price, I so wish that you could see the massive way that you are changing their lives. My words only do a minuscule fraction of justice explaining the impact you are making. Thank you is hardly sufficient, but THANK YOU nonetheless. You heroes have sponsored all the children I took photos of, so I was excited to fill my camera yesterday with a dozen more to advocate for. Im tagging those of you who have compassionately shown interest or inquired about sponsoring. If youre ready to set up your sponsorship, comment below with the name of the child(ren) that jumps out to you. Again sponsorship is $50/month which goes toward food for the month (flour, oil, beans, rice, pasta and more) school fees, medical care, and the smallest portion toward administration. When you sponsor a child you are really sponsoring the entire family (most families have 2-5 children). It has blessed me so much to advocate for these kids and has been a much needed purpose and distraction from our adoption fiasco. Im honored to be used in this way and believe that you can be used too. Send any questions you may have my way, and if youre still reading, thank you...
