So what Justin did not know was this guy was a creeper. Full of adrenalin I waited this guy out. I was near the spot I chose as the epicenter of deer heaven. The Hotel as it is now known. Found deer, elk, and bear beds, rubs, and poop in and around it. That morning I suggested we ride in further and get setup for the mornings check out session at the hotel. I sat in a spot that afforded a view of several prime paths they would depart from. I watched 3 does cross a clearcut, then another way off that I thought was a doe. 20 minutes later I popped out of my hide and spooked a few does. They retreated into the woods and snorted and pounced their hooves. I looked back at the solo doe only to finally be able to see spikes as if went over a ridge. :( Then I txted my buddy and guide who was a half mile away that I wanted to go over the ridge to check out deer vally as i named it. But first I went down a path to check one last draw. There I saw this at come to find out later 265 yards. I could see a dinger hanging so knew it was a buck. Watched it for 20 minutes while he sent his does out in the clear first. He heard the noise of the does I spooked earlier so was on alert. I quietly dove in a log pile for a steady rest. All out of position 20 minutes later I shot. It was misjudged on distance so wounded him and made him bed down. Justin arrived and we watched. When he stood up because he smelled the other buck he was dropped. Justin was there to see the other one appear and commerce the fight. Justin then took the other 3 point. Im teasing him that i decoyed him in, but whats cool is he helped get me into them after a hiatus from hunting since I was 16 years old with my dad. Another cool thing is it has a fork in front on one side snd the rear in the other. My dad John Fleck is proud of my first deer. Look below for some unreal followup pics to add to Justins story.
