So, what does it take in Pekin to get the Powers That Be to return a phone call or to take action when necessary? Our neighbor is digging at the entrance to the alley which we use to access our garage. She never drives in this alley. She has essentially created a multi-level pothole which becomes a lake when it rains. She has not only moved gravel, but also asphalt which eased the slope between the street and the alley. We have called the city multiple times with no action. My last human contact at the city left me with the information that she would be getting multiple citations from multiple departments (not just due to the renovation work on the alley entrance, but also for failure to maintain her side of the alley). Since then, nothing has been done and she has begun to dig again. Calls to the city yesterday have again not been returned and the problem continues. Before you ask, yes, we have tried to work with her on the situation with the alley, but she believes she owns it and that we cannot touch anything in it. We work hard to keep up our yard and being adjacent to the weed-clogged alley which causes traffic in the alley to detour into our yard to get through isnt fair to us and who is responsible for the damage to our vehicles due to the hole at the entrance to the alley? Why wont the city step up and do its job?
