Abusive relationships could be avoided if only folks recognized some of the red flags...here are a few: JEALOUSY- Jealous, but all in the name of love. He/she may question about whom youve spoken to or seen during the day He/she may accuse you of flirting May be jealous of time you spend with family, friends, children, pets or any activity, (choir rehearsal, unit meetings, etc.), which do not include him/her. He/she may call you frequently during the day or drop by your work unexpectantly He/she may refuse to let you work for fear youll meet someone He/she might check your car milage or ask friends to keep an eye on you....but, only because he/she loves you..... Jealousy is not love...it is a sign of insecurity and possessiveness. ISOLATION He/she may prevent you from spending time with your friends or family and demand that you only go places together. You MAY accused of not being committed to the relationship He/she may view people who are your personal friends as causing trouble by placing a wedge between you. He/she may want to live in an isolated area without internet or cell tower, not allow you to use the car, stop you from working or gaining further education or accreditations. Its important that we learn about DOMESTIC VIOLENCE and how to see danger signs. Once we learn about it, we need to be speaking out about it everywhere...even in the pulpit!
