So, whats everyones favorite Final Fantasy, and why? Final Fantasy IX is mine. It was the first to jump back to an actual fantasy setting (castles and knights and mages), the chocobo side quest was the most fun, useful and rewarding (with arguably the best song). Also the protagonist was no longer a sad brooding sword guy, but a clever and witty theif. The game brought in some sci-fi without going over the top and losing its fantasy appeal, and (this will always win me over) it featured a blue mage! The style was great, and the story was huge. Amazing character development, even though Amarant got a smaller role, and moments that go from heart-warming to terribly sad. And if all of that wasnt enough, it is FILLED with references and Easter eggs from the older generation, some even from VII and VIII. I can play IX twice a year every year and still be excited to play again. Kupo!
