So whats your favorite Barbary moment? Mine would be the place actually opening. Over 7 years ago, i was working a full time job and doing a weekly Friday party called Hands and Knees at the M Room. People that know me would agree, I tend to be really impulsive. One day i was driving down Frankford Ave. and saw a For Sale sign on The Barbary. Back then, the Barbary was considered one of those doomed venues. It was so bad it was laughable. There was diamond plate covering the outside and the whole upstairs, and the inside was a total mess. When i saw that sign, a light bulb went off. I have to open this place. I called the realtor immediately and set up a meeting for the following Tuesday. I had no idea how in the hell i was going to pull things together in order to make this happen. My next thought, i need to get partners. Through mutual friends, I met Lhianna Boditoro, and we clicked right away. Needless to say, we checked the place out that Tuesday, and basically said, screw it, lets do this. The rest is history.
