So when I read the bible I found some things that dont really quite make sense to me: In Deuteronomy 20:10-14NLT it says As you approach a town to attack it, first offer its people terms for peace. If they accept your terms and open the gates to you, then all the people inside will serve you in forced labor. But if they refuse to make peace and prepare to fight, you must attack the town. When the LORD your God hands it over to you, kill every man in the town. But you may keep for yourselves all the women, children, livestock, and other plunder. You may enjoy the spoils of your enemies that the LORD your God has given you. Basically what this is saying is that, is that if they are not willing to agree with there statement, you must kill everyone around you... how will that resolve in anything better? I always here about people saying God is amazing and, like, when I see this I find it very weird that I think some people dont look into these parts of the bibles. Some other stuff I found. Zechariah 14:1-2 NAB says Lo, a day shall come for the Lord when the spoils shall be divided in your midst. And I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem for battle: the city shall be taken, houses plundered, women ravished; half of the city shall go into exile, but the rest of the people shall not be removed from the city. Says right here that he will gather up a battle, basically going to take over the city, destroy there houses, and RAPE the women.... You Ethiopians will also be slaughtered by my sword, says the LORD. And the LORD will strike the lands of the north with his fist. He will destroy Assyria and make its great capital, Nineveh, a desolate wasteland, parched like a desert. The city that once was so proud will become a pasture for sheep and cattle. All sorts of wild animals will settle there. Owls of many kinds will live among the ruins of its palaces, hooting from the gaping windows. Rubble will block all the doorways, and the cedar paneling will lie open to the wind and weather. This is the fate of that boisterous city, once so secure. In all the world there is no city as great as I, it boasted. But now, look how it has become an utter ruin, a place where animals live! Everyone passing that way will laugh in derision or shake a defiant fist. (Zephaniah 2:12-15 NLT) I will sweep away everything in all your land, says the LORD. I will sweep away both people and animals alike. Even the birds of the air and the fish in the sea will die. I will reduce the wicked to heaps of rubble, along with the rest of humanity, says the LORD. I will crush Judah and Jerusalem with my fist and destroy every last trace of their Baal worship. I will put an end to all the idolatrous priests, so that even the memory of them will disappear. For they go up to their roofs and bow to the sun, moon, and stars. They claim to follow the LORD, but then they worship Molech, too. So now I will destroy them! And I will destroy those who used to worship me but now no longer do. They no longer ask for the LORDs guidance or seek my blessings. (Zephaniah 1:2-6 NLT) If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives. (Leviticus 20:13 NAB) Can someone please explain to me how some of you guys, or someone that you might know, agree with this? Im really wondering, because Im confused how I thought being a Christian was all about being a good person, and like Religion bringing us together... but what I have read in the bible is that there is many killings in the bible, and lots of rape, and lots of murder. Can someone specify this more and how someone lives like a Christian life? Im not saying being a Christian is bad I just want to know how it works for people, cause I dont really get it. I didnt make this status to offend anyone, its just like Im wondering how people agree with this and all.
