So when describing Detention to friends the best thing I could come up with is It is like Donnie Darko, except it has a hard one for the 90s. Also instead of being slow and methodical, it is fast paced and whimsical. Okay, it isnt Donnie Darko at all. It is Mean Girls meets Scream ala Jawbreakers and Heathers. Kinda like a live action version of Gravity Falls. If you havent seen it, its on Netflix. You really should watch it. Has all the makings of a true cult classic which is harder and harder these day to pull of.
