So, while at church for the Interfaith Shelter last night, I spent a good amount of time talking with Bro. Vincent and we got to know each other better. One of the things we discussed was how not knowing our fathers as we grew into manhood impacted us. Like clockwork, I then went upstairs and dreamt that I was reunited with my Dad (in the dream he had dreads—irony?). While I remember I was disappointed with him in my dream, I was at least happy that I was reunited. Then I woke up and realized, like Biggie, it was all a dream. I hate that this still matters to me at the age of 41. Single moms, if your son doesn’t know his dad, he really wants to know him, even if he doesn’t express it. Trust me! Pray that God takes this longing for a paternal relationship out of my heart and mind.
