So, yesterday, I had to make an unwanted trip to Natchitoches and while I was unsuccessful at finding what I made the trip for, Beverly & I were meant to be on that trip at that time...an hour before we reached our destination, we witnessed the most horrific motorcycle accident I have ever seen. We pulled over, stopped and ran the mile back to where the bike went off of the road while notifying 911...there were 2 other couples who stopped with us...there was not 1 piece of his bike left that I couldnt pick up with one hand. He finally landed in some muddy water, but thankfully was face up. He was unresponsive to voice and touch, had snorous respiration at the rate of about 28-30 per minute and his stomach was becoming more and more distended by the minute. There was not much we could do for him. LSP, The Rapides Sheriffs office & Acadian Ambulance were on scene quickly considering where we were. Those of us who stopped all did something to help while there. Some assisted the medics getting him on the spine board and out of the mud...no easy feat as they would sink to their mid calves when stepping in the mud, others assisted the police in gathering his personal belongings, and the rest helped reconstruct what happened. There were 15 of us out there including the 2 air medics that showed up as we were getting him in the ambulance...Im glad we were there, I hope I never have to do that again. Prayers lifted up for him, his family and his brothers. Hope he makes it.
