So, yesterday I posted one account of a Man of color being targeted by police. Traditionally, Blacks and Latinos are targeted because the look Suspicious and in this case for being a Mutt. People being targeted because of the color of their skin or even for how they dress is problematic. There will be people that say this is not the normal practice and I am making something out of nothing so why stir the pot. By New York citys own estimations in the data provided by Stop and Frisk, thousands and thousands of cases as this video were happening on a daily basis. Blacks & Latinos account for 83% of these stops (this number is disproportionate to their overall number in society) and are arrested at a lower overall percentage to whites. Yes, whites are more likely to be committing some illegal activity at the time of their stop. Although race should not be an issue here...it resonates in the harassment perpetuated by Police officers (not the officers on the video stated they were forced). A commenter on this video post put it best in saying equality is something that is only for the whites and that is sad...I say equality should be for everyone.
